With the CBA All-Star weekend now confirmed for February 21st and 22nd, four Sharks have been named on the ballot for the big game in Guangzhou.
Point guard Liu Wei (19.7/4.9/3.7), forwards DJ White (23.3/10.6/1.3) and Tseng Wen-ting (7ppg,4rpg) and center Zhang Zhaoxu (6.2ppg, 6.8rpg) have all made the list for the Southern All-Stars.
Of those players, Liu, enjoying his best Sharks season in years, has the best chance of making it because of his popularity within China and the fact that there are only two slots on each team for foreigners.
That caveat will possibly limit White’s chance although other than Quincy Douby, the foreigners in the Southern division are fairly evenly matched. Zhang might make it on the bench given the limited number of Chinese centers on the list for the South. Tseng will only make it if the entity of Taiwan votes in his favour.
As it currently stands, here are the teams going in to week two of the voting;
South: Wang Shipeng (Guangdong Tigers), Quincy Douby (Zhejiang Bulls); Zhu Fangyu, Yi Jianlian (Guangdong Tigers), Wang Zhelin (Fujian Sturgeons).
North: Stephon Marbury (Beijing Ducks), Guo Ailun (Liaoning Jaguars); Tracy McGrady (Qingdao Eagles, Zhai Xiaochuan (Beijing Ducks); Han Dejun (Liaoning Jaguars).
