As the Sharks roster continues to grow, players who probably aren’t going to be getting many minutes this season are being moved on. The latest to pack his bags and roll out of Shanghai is forward Peng Fei, who is off to the Jiangsu Dragons.
Peng had a mixed 2011/12 season. In the beginning, he was starting games and did an excellent job of guarding Wilson Chandler when the Sharks won their first game of the campaign against the Guangsha Lions. However, not only did his minutes lessened as the season progressed, he also had the misfortune of being badly injured by a wild, needless midair foul by Stephon Marbury during the Sharks victory against Beijing last December.
The forward, who averaged 4.8 RPG last year will be hoping for more time on the court this year with Jiangsu. The deal itself is a one-year relocation and he will rejoin the Sharks after the completion of the 2012/13 schedule. Fei will join a locker room in Nanjing that also features two other notable former Shanghai players; Mike Harris and Garret Siller.
