Scouting Report: Dongguan Leopards (13-11)

January 23, 2013

Last time the two teams met, Marcus Haislip looked like the second coming of Larry Bird and Lester Hudson was an ongoing problem from the perimeter. Things will be a little different this time around but the Leopards, who look play-off bound yet again, will still be a very formidable proposition.

Having fallen to the Lions in Hangzhou, the Sharks are back on the bus and headed to Jiangsu province where they can look forward to facing a tricky Dragons, who whilst not boasting a winning record, have a strong overall roster and several canny players.

Can the Sharks make it a three game winning streak? If Gilbert Arenas, Liu Wei and DJ White stay in such excellent form, it just might happen but the Lions are no pushovers, especially at home in Hangzhou.

Uh-oh. The Shanxi Dragons, Shanghai’s very recent nemesis is coming to town and although the team is a little different to what it was a couple of months ago, the visitors are still a very tricky outfit.

Having been dominated by Beijing and Stephon Marbury on Friday, now its time for the Tianjin Lions to come over to Shanghai and try their luck against a Sharks team that is now realising its season is basically over and that the remaining fifteen games are an exercise in fighting for pride.

Scouting Report: Beijing Ducks (13-3)

January 2, 2013

It’s now time for an always feisty showdown between China’s two biggest cities. The trouble is, the Beijing Ducks happen to be the defending CBA champions and are easily among the best teams in the league. Not good timing for an ailing home side methinks.

Scouting Report: Liaoning Jaguars (9-6)

Having fallen to the Jilin Tigers, Shanghai are now due a visit to Benxi to take on the formidable Liaoning Jaguars. The hosts, loaded as they are with good local players, will probably be one of the Sharks’ most difficult road games this season. Moreover, with Gilbert Arenas and Liu Wei still in either the […]

Having had several days rest, the Sharks will be travelling to the far north of the country with the hope of winning only their second road game of the season against a woeful Jilin side that have done little to impress anyone this year.

Scouting Report: Bayi Rockets (8-4)

December 24, 2012

Once upon a time, the Bayi Rockets were the unquestioned masters of the Chinese basketball world.  The army team have since fallen on hard times after previous seasons of regular finals appearances and now, with the influx of capable overseas imports (Bayi are not allowed non-Chinese players), their recent form has been less glamorous. Last season, the […]
